Edit a PDF — the text itself, not just on top

Click any line of text to change it: the old words are taken out of the page and the new ones written in a matching font, so search and copy find the new words. Add text, pictures, shapes, ticks, crosses and dates anywhere.

How it works

  1. Open the PDF and choose Edit Text: every line of text shows a light outline.
  2. Click a line and type. Change the font, size, style and colour if you like.
  3. Use Add for new text, pictures, boxes, lines, arrows, white-out, ticks, crosses and dates; drag and resize them.
  4. Download. Undo works for every change until then.

Questions

Can I edit a scanned PDF?

Scanned pages are pictures. Run OCR first: it puts the words into the page, and then they can be searched, copied and changed.

Does the font match?

The new words use a standard font of the same kind (with or without serifs, or fixed width), the same size, weight and colour as the line.

Is the old text really gone?

Yes, where it can be taken out safely. Where it cannot, it is covered with the page colour.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Shiklo PDF works in your browser: your files are read and changed on your device and never sent to a server. A saved project stays in this browser only.

Does it cost anything or need an account?

No. Shiklo PDF is free and needs no sign-up. It works on computers and phones, and once opened it keeps working offline.
